Joel Schlessinger, MD, FAAD, FAACS

Joel Schlessinger, M.D., the President of the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery (ASCDAS), is a Board Certified Dermatologist as well as being a Board Certified in General Cosmetic Surgery. He is in private practice in Omaha, Nebraska and has lectured nationally and internationally on laser techniques and dermatology. Dr. Schlessinger is also the President of LovelySkin.com, a leading website for skin care products. His state-of-the-art, 11,000 square foot office includes a full-service day spa, offering services such as skin rejuvenation, facials, and dermatology-approved products and cosmetics. The office and day spa employs 35 full-time staff members.

Dr. Schlessinger has been a leader in laser development, injectable fillers and dermatologic research and has participated in multiple studies of lasers and medications. He is the author of numerous articles on skin conditions and the co-author of white papers on laser hair removal and skin care. He has been quoted in numerous nationally and internationally distributed articles. Dr. Schlessinger has been spotlighted as one of the leading dermatology practices in the nation by Dermatology Business Management Magazine (one of 12 dermatologists in the United States selected for this honor) as well as InStyle, W and US Weekly magazines and most recently Glamour magazine.

In addition to being a founding member and President of the American Society for Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery, Dr Schlessinger is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Moh's Surgery, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the Laser Institute of America. Dr. Schlessinger is the National Director of Research for exCel Cosmeceuticals, a new line of patented alpha amino fruit acid skin care products. He is on the advisory board of Allergan Pharmaceuticals, Medicis Pharmaceuticals, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, Ortho Dermatological, Stieffel, Dermik, Connetics, MJD Communications and the Health and Wellness Council of America. Dr. Schlessinger is also President of the Nebraska Dermatologic Society. His office specializes in general dermatology, cosmetic surgery, tumescent liposuction, laser procedures and sclerotherapy.

When he isn't in the office, he can be found traveling, tinkering with electronics, kickboxing or spending time with his wife, Nancy and their two children, Claire and Daniel. Dr. Schlessinger is on the board of two non-profit organizations in Omaha, Nebraska, serves as a consultant for several skin care companies and is on the executive committee for Brown University Alumni Schools Committee.
